OPTIMAL HEALTH, NATURALLY.

Dr. Stephen Cabral's approach to whole body health combines functional medicine, Ayurvedic medicine, and genetics. He helps people identify the underlying root causes of their health issues through at-home lab testing that goes well beyond traditional blood work (don't miss the offer below for an inflammation lab test!).

In this episode:

  • Revolutionizing healthcare: Dr. Cabral's approach to at-home lab testing

  • What to do when you have you have symptoms like migraines or low mood and low libido or low energy and brain fog, but you can't pinpoint why.

  • You're tired and foggy and gaining weight - is it perimenopause or is it your thyroid?

  • The potential impact of intermittent fasting on the thyroid - and Dr. Cabral's recommendations for fasting responsibly

    • Why Dr. Cabral says "don't skip breakfast!" and "eat your carbs"

  • Inflammation is "the source of 90% plus of all disease," yet, inflammation is almost never a root cause of any disease. So, how can we mitigate the risks? (We can!)

  • From omega-3s to iodine: A deep dive into the nutrients your body needs for optimal health

    • Excellent natural sources for Omega-3s: wild salmon, wild trout, sardines, mackerel and anchovies Grave's disease, Hashimoto's, and hyper vs hypo-thyroidism

    • If you have high levels of stress, you likely deplete zinc and B vitamins very quickly. Blood tests can help determine if this is the case for you

  • Treating hypothyroidism - synthetic prescriptions vs natural options like Daily Thyroid Support

  • One of the reasons why men and women have low thyroid is that they may unknowingly have high levels of fluoride or bromine or chlorine that they're being exposed to, which displaces iodine in the thyroid. What can we do about it?

"What I try to share with people is that everything is connected. You can't look at things independently and what heals one thing basically heals the entire body. That's the amazing thing about natural health." - Dr. Stephen Cabral

Could it be Low Thyroid?

Conventional medicine will tell us that anyone between the range of 0.5 - 5 is considered healthy and would not be regarded as having low thyroid or Hashimoto’s. But in reality, the optimal range is 0.5 - 2, and those who are outside of this range might be experiencing symptoms that occur with a functionally low thyroid, like:

1. Dryness From an Ayurvedic perspective, low thyroid can look like a lack of dryness. This shows up as dry, thinning hair, brittle nails, dry skin, and constipation.

2. Lack of heat Poor circulation is a predominant trait of low thyroid. Cold hands and feet, slow heart rate, and a sluggish metabolism are all indicators that your thyroid might not be functioning at an optimal level.

3. Sexual Dysfunction Issues with infertility and unbalanced hormones can all indicate a thyroid issue. Low mood and low energy are also signs to look for.
